GNG : Kurotora vs. Cross by *wheresmytea

Kurotora, one of the 'Demon' Kai Ken brothers, gets into it with Cross the Saluki, a Soldier of Ou. I used lots of references for both dogs since I've never had the opportunity to know either one in real life. Kurotora looks pretty red/brown here; my bad. I was trying to give him the heavy brindling that the 'black' Kai Ken dogs have.

I figure Cross must've been pretty bad-ass back in her day to be accepted as a soldier- not only is she the only female soldier of Ou, but she's a freakin SALUKI, which are small, light and comparitively delicate. Look how many German shepards, Great Danes, Mastiffs, etc she hangs out with. She would have to be one hell of a soldier to hold her own amongst them. You go, girl.

Note: This image is not meant to glorify dog-fighting in any way. Although there are lots of fights between the dogs of GNG, they should be taken in context. GNG's dogs fight for the reasons wild animals fight: to guard their territory, establish dominance and protect themselves and each other. This image is meant to glorify the lengths Cross and her fellows were willing to go to in order to defend their home. (Watching the series helps. Cross and Kurotora end up friends and allies.)

Note II, because I am feeling chatty today: This was an experiment in which I tried incorporate three elements I usually don't when drawing: physical contact between characters, action and background. I have no specific reason why my drawings normally lack these things; I'm a big fan of all of them. *shrug*

I'm so glad to see someone draw Cross so badass, and Kurotora so releastic

I adore the colouring, and the action in this is really great!

I really love your way of drawing dogs^^ it looks great. Especially nice work with drawing Kurotora from that angle.

this is so damn impressive, like. wow. WOW. Cross' face is my favorite haha, she really was such a badass action girl. you also made both of them very distinct in their breeds, i love that, god knows all my dogs look pretty much the same lol *hangs head in shaaame*
